By watching this film, it has helped me picture out what I've read from the script, thus make it easier when writing a CA. It has also made many scenes clearer for me. Compared to the script, it was less detailed because there were many cut out scenes in this film. I already know the basic idea of the storyline therefore it was easier to understand and identify each character when watching the film. But most of the information shown in the film are what I already know, so I didn't learn as much from it as from the script.
Pacino's Film [Looking for Richard]
I have learned how acting can change a context's meaning. For example, during the scene when Richard tries to persuade Queen Elizabeth into allowing Richard marry her daughter, I can easily tell how Richard's words can manipulate Queen Elizabeth. But just by reading the script, it's difficult to tell that the Queen was calmed. Pacino's film has also thought me a lot about an actor's expression.
Watching this film was like taking an acting class...

Are you inspired to be an actor now?
ReplyDeleteYour comments show that you've understood how important it is for an individual to interpret what Shakespeare has written. Think about that when you write your CA - your job is to imagine what expressions and meanings you think are behind the lines.
Remember also that plays are always intended to be performed, not read in a classroom so the drama of what is written down but then conveyed by an actor is really important.
