How confident you are in analyzing poetry?
Between 1 to 10, I'll give myself a seven. Honestly, I was completely blur about poems when I was in Year 10. Since we are able to analyze our friends' poems without any direct help, I became more confident after presenting about it. Knowing to say what a poem is about is just an interpretation also made me more confident, since there are no real wrong answers.
If you feel you can confidently identify the various poetic devices?
I feel I can identify most of the required poetic devices in a poem, but some of them such as imagery and assonance I still am not clear.
What we've done that you've found useful?
Actually writing the poem itself helped a lot, instead of analyzing a poem and identifying the poetic devices used. Writing allows us to create, not just recognize. And if the poetic devices we formed is correct, we know for sure how to recognize one. Also, the challenges of exchanging poems and judging each other's after writing one was useful; knowing that I've missed several poetic devices they included made me learn my mistakes.
Anything you're not confident with or sure of?
Poetic devices such as imagery and assonance. I'm also not sure about oxymoron, whether it can be written in a different structure. Instead of "dark light," can it be a phrase such as "The best cure for insomnia is to get a lot of sleep?"

What did I learn from from watching both the McKellen and the Pacino Richard III films?
By watching this film, it has helped me picture out what I've read from the script, thus make it easier when writing a CA. It has also made many scenes clearer for me. Compared to the script, it was less detailed because there were many cut out scenes in this film. I already know the basic idea of the storyline therefore it was easier to understand and identify each character when watching the film. But most of the information shown in the film are what I already know, so I didn't learn as much from it as from the script.
Pacino's Film [Looking for Richard]
I have learned how acting can change a context's meaning. For example, during the scene when Richard tries to persuade Queen Elizabeth into allowing Richard marry her daughter, I can easily tell how Richard's words can manipulate Queen Elizabeth. But just by reading the script, it's difficult to tell that the Queen was calmed. Pacino's film has also thought me a lot about an actor's expression.
Watching this film was like taking an acting class...

Villain Speaking CA Reflection

I chose the 'genius, evil' Beethoven as my villainy character.
Because of his deafness, he hated everyone who can hear. Thus, his superb brilliance in music can change the world! Beethoven put a curse on his newly written masterpiece which wouldgradually damage everyone's hearing; making them completely deaf. Moreover, his music can hypnotize listeners and they'll crave for even more of his pieces. He also hated Mozart, so he had a smart plan to tear him down.
My friends and I shared ideas and gave each other opinions. We've also practised our act in front of each other to feel less nervous about it; then we peer assessed each other.
I have learned to be less nervous when speaking in front of the class especially when there's a video camera recording my every move :) I have used techniques in my speech such as alliteration and repetition. Also, I've begun the speech differently.
I had done a few mistakes in my speech such as skipping a few sentences and stuttering. In the future, this could help when speaking in front of an audience. It has improved my confidence in giving speeches and I hope to do better next time.

Which part from Act Two do you find the most interesting/ or where Richard is the most villainous and why?
I find the part when Queen Elizabeth, the children and Duchess of York were sad about Clarence's and Edward's death most interesting. This is because it shows the amount of damage he had done and who he has affected. You can see that they were all crying and weeping at the same time, they are also stressed about Prince Edward who should be the next King. The Duchess of York also tries to comfort both Queen Elizabeth and the children.
This is giving a lot of trouble to them and as women, they were considered as the weaker sex in their time.
